The Security Guards Anniversary, A Momentum to Strengthen Professionalism and Competence
Nawakara Group, the leading entity in Indonesia’s security industry with other security service players to celebrate the 37th Anniversary of Security Personnel & Indonesian Protective Services Industry (INPAMINDO) 2018. Workshops, a commemoration ceremony, exhibition, and seminars were part of the event that took place at JIEX Kemayoran for two days from Friday (2/2/2018) to Saturday (3/2/2018).
This annual celebration is jointly hosted by the Indonesian National Police (INP) and associations in the security industry, such as the Indonesian Security Industry Association (ABUJAPI), the Oil and Gas Security Industry Association (ASIM), the Association of Indonesian Cash Processing Companies (APJATIN), and the Asia Pasific Security Association Indonesia (APSA).
The associations are professional organizations of experts, observers, and companies in the security and protective industry. Together, the partner with the government to provide valuable input to improve the competence and professionalism of security personnel, who are the police force’s partners in serving communities and business enterprises.
In his opening remarks, the Committee Chair of the 37th Security Personnel Anniversary Budi Riyanto S.H. MBA, noted that this was the first time the anniversary celebration was held in conjunction with workshops and seminars. “This is a new milestone for Security Personnel and for all of us,” said Riyanto, who is also the current ABUJAPI Chair on Friday (2/2/2018).
The security and protective services are growing rapidly today, according to Riyanto. The INP Headquarters records show that there are 560 thousand registered security guards under 2,200 Security Service Providers. This number may even be higher since there are certified security guards who have not been registered. Most of them work in residential areas or in other industries.
Meanwhile, the Head of Community Development Coordination under the INP’s Security Preservation Division, Inspector General Police Drs. H. Arkian Lubis S.H, who read the remarks of the Security Preservation Division Head Commissioner General Police Moechgiyarto, said that even though the exhibition was initially planned for 2017, its organization now is expected to introduce proper security equipment and the latest security technology that would help improve the competencies of Security guards while on duty.
He believed that quality technology and equipment could help anticipate and recognize new criminal M.O. that is also becoming increasingly complex. “Security guards will be able to perform optimally, do prevention efforts, and provide first response at the scene,” he said. Symbolized with a hit of a gong, Lubis officially opened the event and took the time to visit all exhibition booths in the adjacent area, including the booth for Nawakara Group.
INPAMINDO 2018 is held under the theme “By Improving Competencies, We Realize Security Personnel’s Professionalism in Creating Security and Order at the Workplace”. A number of exciting workshops were organized during the event’s first day, from Profiling with Handoko Gani, Public Speaking with Valentino Simandjuntak, and Rescue Skills with Marsudi, Public Relations Division Head of the National SAR Agency.
There were also interesting discussions, such as Vital Object Safeguarding, Nationalism and Terrorism, and Competence and Profession as well as dicussions with entities in the security industry including its stakeholders, e.g. the Center of Radicalism and Deradicalization Studies (PAKAR), INP’s Security Preservation Division, National Counter-Terrorism Agency, Oil and Gas Regulatory Body, Bank Indonesia, and many more.
